Projects for the Trail
Update from the Kent County Parks Department:
Bidding and construction of the long awaited section of the trail from
Kentwood to Caledonia is tentatively scheduled to begin in October of
2008. The trail will be extended from where it now ends at 60th
St and Wing Ave. A paved side path will be constructed east along 60th
St to East Paris Ave. The bid for the section along 60th St has been
awarded and construction should begin soon. The trail will also be
paved south of 68th St in Dutton to Main St in Caledonia. A gap between
these two sections will remain until an easement can be negotiated with
the property owners. Kent County Parks will also eventually pave south
to the county line at 108th St. The M-6 connector trail to Kent Trails
is currently under construction.
The Thornapple Trail Association is also actively working to secure
funding to extend the pavement both north and south of Middleville as
well as in the Hastings and Nashville areas.
